By RokkuDayoReviewed package: 0.4.4Azimuth & MezcalReviewed Oct 30, 2026

More control over Horizon

Most options are available through the game’s own menus. Extra Options also provides a configuration file for bindings and advanced settings, plus bundled plugins for selected features.

Your garage, anywhere

Change cars in Free Roam, return to the garage from the pause menu and jump straight to a manufacturer in car and rim menus.

Weather & time control

Use time and weather overrides, including expanded photo-mode environment controls. Keep the bundled Weather Control mod when installing the package.

A better photo mode

Adjust the time, weather, driver visibility and vehicle lights. Open photo mode from supported View Car menus, with fewer camera restrictions.

Camera & driving tweaks

Tune camera FOV, configure the drift camera and use Autodrive on a GPS route. Toggle supported roofs, headlights, hazards and turn signals.

More ways to play Solo

Enable Show All Races to bring Online Free Roam race setup points into Horizon Solo, or use Custom Showcases to select your own car for a showcase.

Built-in mod support

Extra Options includes its own addon and plugin support, plus mediapc folder support. Follow the official wiki and each mod author's installation instructions.

Choose the right package

Download from RokkuDayo’s official GitHub releases. Choose the package for the translation layer you actually use; the reviewed 0.4.4 release provides two separate archives.

The author warns against unofficial “all-in-one” installers and instructions asking you to paste PowerShell commands. Use the official release archive and its included readme.

Install Extra Options

Start with your own Xbox One FH2 game files and a working translation layer. Close the game, keep a copy of your existing settings and check the release’s compatibility notes before replacing files.

Azimuth

  1. Open the Azimuth archive and find the Azimuth folder inside it.
  2. Copy that folder’s contents into the directory containing Azimuth.exe. Do not place an extra Azimuth folder inside your existing one.
  3. Keep winmm.dll, FH2_ExtraOptions.ini and the complete mods folder together. The reviewed package includes Weather Control and Garage Revving plugins.
  4. Launch through Azimuth and explore the new game-menu options. Extra Options 0.4.4’s release notes list Azimuth 1.0.4 compatibility.

Mezcal

Copy the contents of the archive’s Mezcal folder into Forza Horizon 2\Mount, beside forza_durango_release_final.exe. This package uses xg.dll and also includes the INI, gamerpic and bundled mods.

Linux / Wine / Proton

For the Azimuth package, upstream documents this DLL override. Add it to the Steam shortcut’s launch options when launching through Wine/Proton, and keep your launcher’s own setup instructions in mind.

Controls & settings

These defaults come from the packaged 0.4.4 INI. An existing or launcher-managed configuration can differ. Edit [Bindings] in FH2_ExtraOptions.ini to customize them; None disables a binding.

In-game menus

Look in HUD, camera, audio and difficulty settings for the added options. The drift camera can be configured in HUD settings; photo mode exposes its own environment controls.

Optional & experimental settings

Treasure Map is off by default (UnlockTreasureMap=0). The reviewed INI also leaves unrestricted aero tuning, all-engine swaps and all-transmission swaps off; the swap experiments can increase load times.

Use the version your setup expects

If something is missing or not working

Nothing changes in the game

Check that you chose the correct translation-layer package and copied its contents into the folder containing the correct executable. Keep the configuration and bundled mods together, then restart the game.

Weather or garage revving is missing

Copy the archive's mods folder as well as the main DLL and INI. Version 0.4.4 includes separate bundled Weather Control and Garage Revving plugins.

Controls do something different

Check the [Bindings] section in your installed FH2_ExtraOptions.ini. Your previous configuration may use custom keys. Some shortcuts are context-sensitive or distinguish a tap from a hold.

A car's roof or signals look wrong

Roof support varies by car, and upstream documents vehicle-specific turn-signal oddities. Check the official wiki before reporting a new issue.

The game crashes after an update

Confirm that the unmodified game still works through your translation layer. Check the required version, restore the previous matching setup if needed and isolate recently added mods. Include exact versions when reporting the issue.

Check the wiki and official issue tracker with your translation-layer version, Extra Options version and a description of any other installed mods.

Questions & official sources

Does Extra Options include the game?

No. It modifies your existing Xbox One FH2 setup. The Xbox 360 version is not the target of this project.

Do I need to reinstall it for Infinity or FH2MP?

Use those launchers’ supported dependency or hook setup. Standalone installation instructions do not replace their compatibility guidance.

Why are the roof and turn-signal timings different from an older guide?

The 0.3.0 release shortened the delays. The 0.4.4 archive’s INI documents a 1.5-second roof hold and 0.5-second turn-signal hold; your installed bindings remain the source of truth.
