Welcome to the definitive visual upgrade for the Forza Horizon 2 PC Port.
This project was carefully crafted after hours of testing, trial, and error to completely eliminate the flat, washed-out, and grayish look that the native PC port by azimuth has by default. The main goal is to bring depth back to the environment and make the cars look as solid, sharp, and detailed as they deserve on PC, while keeping the game visually clean and 100% playable.
To suit everyone's personal preference, this download includes two unique variants:
1. CINEMATIC Preset
The Style: Heavily inspired by the iconic summer vibe and legendary golden hour lighting of Forza Horizon 1 (2012).
What it does: It modifies the shader rendering order to expand the light map, achieving an incandescent and stunning solar glow. Sunlight naturally wraps around the landscapes and the car bodywork, making it the perfect choice for players seeking a deeply atmospheric and cinematic experience while driving into the sunset.
2. HIGH DETAIL Preset
The Style: Focused on pure sharpness, micro-contrast, and technical photorealism.
What it does: It places the contrast settings at the very end of the rendering chain to act as an edge-sculpting filter. This makes the 3D car models feel heavy, solid, and incredibly three-dimensional, highlighting every design line, grille, and carbon fiber detail without overexposing or blowing out the image bright colors.
Zero Visual Bugs (No Depth-Buffer effects)
Unlike most presets out there, neither of these two versions uses Ambient Occlusion (such as MXAO or RTGI). In open-world racing games, these effects break the Depth Buffer during loading screens, the map, or pause menus, causing horrible black flickering artifacts. This preset keeps your UI, menus, and overall stability completely intact and seamless.
Installation instructions
install reshade 6.8.0 or higher, add the executable "FH2 DLC Launcher.exe" (UPDATE: FOR THE VERSION 0.9.10 OF AZIMUTH, CHOISE azimuth.exe to ensure it works smoothly with extra options enabled—don't worry—the Storm Island DLC will remain active; that’s how it works in my case) and Select the DirectX 11/12 option, specifically, so that it works without problems in azimuth, pointing it to your azimuth folder, and finally, Click "Browse" and select any .ini file (either "Cinematic" or "High"—both use the same effects) from this mod to install the effects it includes, then proceed with the full installation.
Extract all the files into the Azimuth root folder after installing ReShade.
Start the game and press the Home key to open the ReShade menu.
From the top drop-down menu, select your preferred preset:
CINEMATIC preset or High detail preset
Enjoy the festival!
